St. George's Day Parade with Coventry's Lord Mayor
23 April 2012
On St. George's Day, 23rd April, we hosted two special visits by Civic Dignitaries from Kenilworth and Coventry.
During the morning the Mayor of Kenilworth - Cllr. David Shilton was welcomed by Gary Hall, the Chief Executive of the Museum for a personal tour of our Royalty on the Road exhibition and the rest of the Museum.
At 2pm, we were joined by 14 Standard Bearers from the City of Coventry Standard Bearers Association, who formed a Colour Party to welcome the Lord Mayor of Coventry - Cllr. Kieran Mulhall.
It was a proud moment for the Lord Mayor and the Standard Bearers alike, and also for the Lord Mayor's niece - Bev Beverley-Smith, who works at the Museum. Bev had the opportunity to be his Consort for the visit and had a wonderful time.
We are looking forward to future Civic visits by the Mayors' of Warwick, Royal Leamington Spa, Stratford upon Avon, the Chair of Warwick District Council, the Chair of Warwickshire County Council and the Lord Lieutentant of the West Midlands - Paul Sabapathy CBE.
We'll be photographing each visit and posting the pictures on our Flickr site very soon.
Happy St.George's Day!
