Work at the Museum
Coventry Transport Museum is part of the Culture Coventry charitable trust - occasionally we need to recruit new staff to the team, and we look for self-motivated and forward-thinking people.
Even if you are based behind the scenes, you need to be comfortable working with or around visitors in an environment where creating the right atmosphere is everything. Everyone in the team plays an active part in delivering our fantastic attraction to visitors.
All of our vacancies can be found listed here when they arise, but if you can’t wait to get involved why not check out our Volunteering Programme.
People from Black, Asian and Ethnically Diverse backgrounds, disabled, deaf and neurodivergent people are underrepresented in our workforce, so we particularly encourage applications from candidates in these groups.

CREATIVE PLACEMENTS WORK EXPERIENCE FOR HOME EDUCATED YOUNG PEOPLE
Join CV Life for a work placement programme, developed for home educated young people aged 15-16.
A cohort of 9 young people will complete an accredited, level 1 Qualification in Personal and Social Development
To achieve the Level 1 Award in Personal and Social Development, participants will complete two qualifying modules. The award requires approximately 60 hours of learning, split between home and in-person sessions.
Face to face sessions will be held at the Transport Museum on the last Friday of each month, 10:00am–2:30pm. These sessions will focus on group tasks, project work, and building a portfolio of evidence.
Termly, one day a week work placements across museum venues
During the academic year of the program, all young people will complete 1 term of work placements.
This will aim to introduce the young people to different departments and roles within our museums.
The young person will attend work placement one day a week, which will be agreed between both parties.
Monthly peer support workshops
Held on the last Friday of each month, 10:00am–2:30pm, at Coventry Transport Museum.
Sessions include:
- Activities to complete the Level 1 Qualification
- Guest talks on careers and job roles
- Group activities to support employability skills and career planning
Creation of skills based CV
All participants will be guided in creating a skills-based CV that highlights their personal strengths, experiences, and achievements. This CV can be used for future education, training, or employment opportunities.
Development of a visual aid portfolio
Throughout the year-long programme, each participant will build a personal portfolio showcasing the skills they've developed and the activities they've completed. This will be theirs to keep and use beyond the programme.
