Coventry Transport Museum makes the perfect learning environment for school visits.

Coventry Transport Museum, the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum and the Lunt Roman Fort are available for onsite, facilitated school visits. You can also visit on self-led basis.

We also have a virtual schools offer, enabling us to bring our activities direct to your school online. The virtual offer will further enhance your onsite learning and support pre- and post-visit activities. Take a look at our virtual schools programme here.

Please note that all schools must book before their visit.

You can expect your day to be a highly interactive hands-on, multi-sensory experience, focusing on the Coventry Transport Museums collection of British vehicles on the planet and tells the story of a city which changed the world through transport.

Your pupils will enjoy a creative learning environment in which they can develop transferable skills such as critical thinking, communication and problem-solving.

To book a session, please complete a booking form or email or call 0247 6237523

Museum-led sessions are delivered by experienced Learning Officers and the more sessions you book, the cheaper it gets!
Sessions delivered by experienced Learning Officers cost £120.00 per session. Booking two sessions for a full day experience gives you a discounted rate of £200 for both sessions.

Teacher-led sessions – We have a series of resources available for you to lead sessions with your class whilst visiting the museum. Groups will receive an introduction from a member of the Learning team of how to use these resources. Teacher-led sessions cost £75 per group (maximum of 32 pupils per group). If you make a combination booking of a museum-led session and a teacher-led session, this will be discounted to £170 per group.

Self-led visits to the museum are free of charge for Coventry Schools, but use of a lunch space on the day is chargeable at a rate of £60 for 45 minutes. Non-Coventry schools - group admission prices apply, please contact for more details.

Please note: There is a 33% charge for cancellations within one month of the visit and 100% charge for a cancellation on the day, except for circumstances beyond your control.

Two Session Travel Bursary

Using funding from the Arts Council and the Department for Education, we are working to increase the number of primary schools taking part in high quality educational visits to museums in Coventry.

By encouraging schools to get pupils out of the classroom and into museums, together we will spark young people’s curiosity and encourage a lifelong passion for culture and learning.

Pay just £200 when booking two sessions and your class will enjoy:

  • Two education sessions at Coventry museums. These can take place at the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, Coventry Transport Museum or a combination of both on the same day.
  • Travel bursary of up to £250*, to subsidise transport costs for visits to the museums. Please note, the bursary is only available for schools with more than 20% of school population pupil premium rates.
  • FREE use of a lunch space
  • Each session must consist of the same pupils.

* While funding lasts | Learning sessions must take place before the end of March 2025
