DesignLab Nation
16 July 2018
On 19 July 2018, Coventry Transport Museum will host the first DesignLab Nation CPD event for teachers, and the launch of the Coventry & Warwickshire STEM teacher’s network.
Designlab Nation is the V&A’s new national programme to support the next generation of designers. The initiative brings together Secondary schools with regional museums and practicing designers. Through focused design projects, students work on live briefs set by a designer and take inspiration from local design industries and collections from regional museums and the V&A. The programme also provides teachers with training and CPD opportunities to develop innovative ways of teaching design.
Join us to hear about the first year of this funded project, and find out how you can get involved in future years. Learn from our lead designer, Julia Snowdin, as you experience some of the practises used by students in this pilot year.
Also take the opportunity to learn more about the new Coventry & Warwickshire STEM teacher’s network. This group is hosted by cultural venues in the CW9 group* and will be exploring ways to help Secondary STEM teachers develop their skills and knowledge, as well as considering useful ways to share best practice with colleagues.
This free CPD event starts at 4pm and finishes at 7pm and is open to teachers, teaching assistants and trainee teachers specialising in Design and Technology or other STEM subjects.
Please note that light refreshments are included. Early booking is highly recommended, please Nicky McIntosh for a place via the following email address: nicky.mcintosh@culturecoventry.com
