RIDE Merchandise
RIDE, a brand with a rich history rooted in cycling expertise, is coming to the Coventry Transport Museum at the end of May.
Originally established in 1999 as a reimagining of Atkins Cycles, a beloved family-run shop, RIDE has been championed by professional cyclist Darren Atkins and his skateboarding brother Paul Atkins.
Now, 24 years since being founded, RIDE is launching at Coventry Transport Museum with a selection of merch being sold.
Etch & Pin
We’ve partnered with Etch & Pin to create a NEW limited edition be’spoke Ariel Ordinary Bicycle pin!
Manufactured by Messrs. Haynes & Jefferis of Coventry under licence from James Starley, the Ariel Ordinary Bicycle was the first all steel mass produced bicycle in Britain!
Initially advertised in ""The English Mechanic"" on 15th September 1871, the price was £8 or £12 with speed gear. The speed gear was an optional extra and could be fitted to the driving wheel.
Fast Fact! As well as perfecting the chain drive and tangentially spoked wheel, James Starley made significant contributions to the development of gears, particularly with his invention of the differential gear. This innovation allowed wheels to rotate at different speeds and laid the foundation for its use in modern motor vehicles.
Now available for purchase in the Gift Shop. You can also view an example of this bicycle in the Cycle Pioneers gallery.
