Coundon Court Students Rise From The Shadows In Blitz Gallery

22 November 2013

To coincide with the anniversary of the night of the Coventry Blitz, we were very pleased to work with BTEC Performing Arts students from Coundon Court School, who devised and performed a site-specific piece of theatre within our Blitz Experience gallery.

The performance, entitled Rise From The Shadows, guided audience members and invited guests through a series of stories from the fateful night of 14th November 1940.  In 30 minutes, this intimate and powerful performance brought the gallery's bombed out streets, factories and homes vividly to life for audience members.

This project was part of the Museums & Schools project, which is a joint initiative between Coventry Transport Museum and the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, which aims to get more school pupils visiting museums on a regular basis.  Other strands of tjhe project involve offering £5 packages for primary schools to take part in three learning sessions at Coventry museums - find out more about this offer.
