Thrust 2's 30th Anniversary - Competition Winner!

08 October 2013

On Saturday 5th October, we hosted a fantastic day of celebration for the 30th anniversary of Thrust 2 gaining the World Land Speed Record.

The car and her driver, Richard Noble OBE recorded an average land speed of 633mph on the Black Rock Desert in Nevada, USA on 4th October 1983.

For the whole of Saturday we ran a visitor competition to win a copy of the book 'Jet Blast and the hand of fate' written by John Ackroyd - the Designer of Thrust 2 and signed by the technical crews of both Thrust 2 & Thrust SSC, along with Richard Noble and Andy Green - the driver of Thrust 2's big sister.....Thrust SSC.

We had entries from Taunton in Somerset, Sutton Coldfield, Nottingham, Worcester, Grimsby, Gateshead as well as closer to home...Kenilworth, Rugby and Coventry.

The winner is Alice Hawkins from Burton Green nr. Kenilworth...Congratulations to Alice, the prize book will be with her soon.

Thank you to everyone who came along on Saturday to share in the anniversary of Thrust 2, all of the crews were delighted with the day as were Richard and Andy.
