Object of the Fortnight - the last Massey Ferguson

On Sunday 8th July 2012 the Massey Ferguson tower at Banner Lane, Coventry, will be demolished. In commemoration of this historic event, this fortnight's Object of the Fortnight is the last ever tractor to roll off the production line at Banner Lane, on 24th December 2002.

It ended production at the factory that has begun in 1946 and produced 3,307,996 tractors.

The MF4300 series of tractors replaced the 4200 series in October 2001. The 4300 had a better cab interior and a 'greener' Perkins diesel engine.

The engine is a four-cylinder 1004.4T model which drives a 24 x 24 powershuttle transmission and four wheel drive with fully lockable differentials.

The 4300 continued to be made in Beauvais, France, until December 2003, when it was replaced by the 5400 series.

This tractor is on loan to the Museum by AGCO Limited, Massey Ferguson's parent company.
