Coventry Festival of Motoring Open For Entries
26 January 2012
We are delighted to announce that entry for the 2012 Coventry Festival of Motoring is now open!
The Festival of Motoring is moving to a new venue at Stoneleigh Park from this year onwards, as well as taking place over a new weekend; August Bank Holiday – and these are just two of many new elements to the Festival, all of which we hope will make the weekend an even more enjoyable experience for participants and visitors alike.
NEW Saturday is Enthusiasts Day
For the first time ever we are introducing a whole new range of events on the Saturday – all of which have been designed with the dedicated car enthusiast, in mind. The programme for the day will include auto test demonstrations, a Concours competition, marketplace and our new WheelSkills precision driving contest. In short, there’s plenty to enjoy and get involved with all day long, culminating in a gala dinner on Saturday evening with guest speaker Ian Callum, Design Director at Jaguar Cars.
NEW Future of Transport Expo
For many years the Festival has been a fantastic celebration of Coventry and Warwickshire’s transport heritage. The move to Stoneleigh Park allows us to fulfil another ambition: to showcase the incredible range of transport innovations that are being developed and produced across our region today, in the Future of Transport Expo. The Future of Transport Expo will take place on Saturday and Sunday, in the indoor facilities at Stoneleigh, and will give companies from the Coventry & Warwickshire area a unique opportunity to shout about what they do and illustrate the vibrancy of the region’s transport sector.
NEW An All-New Route For The Historic Vehicle Run
Fear not, the flagship element of the Festival of Motoring is still very much the cornerstone of the weekend, but following lots of feedback from participants, we have put together an all-new 50 mile route through the stunning South Warwickshire countryside, for participants to enjoy on Sunday morning. The route, which has been devised in conjunction with a long-term festival participant, will take in glorious countryside as well as picturesque towns and villages.
NEW Activities at Stoneleigh on Sunday
If Saturday is enthusiasts’ day, Sunday at Stoneleigh is aimed towards general visitors. Whilst participants are out on the historic vehicle run, visitors to the Festival will enjoy looking round car club stands, thrilling at the daring ‘Wall of Death’ riders and indulging in a spot of shopping at the craft fair and marketplace. There will also be a funfair, 4x4 experience, Dream Rides with The Sporting Bears and of course the Future of Transport Expo for visitors to enjoy whilst they await the cars' and motorbikes' triumphant return from the run.
NEW Accommodation Options
We hope that you will be excited by all the new events taking place on the Saturday, and will decide to join us for the whole weekend – if you do, you will be pleased to know that there are a range of accommodation options available to you at Stoneleigh. The venue offers a number of 4* hotel rooms as well as spaces for camping and caravanning, and you can book your preferred accommodation option as part of one of our special weekend packages.
