Coventry author unveils new Christmas tale with Vintage Sleigh Ride

22 November 2024

Coventry author Aaron Ashmore is teaming up once again with Coventry's famous Vintage Sleigh Ride to deliver a festive treat to young visitors this holiday season with his new book, Help! Santa is a Robot.

This Christmas, children visiting the Vintage Sleigh Ride at the Coventry Transport Museum will receive a copy of Aaron’s latest story, a follow-up to his popular Help! Santa's Sleigh Has Broken.

In his new tale, Santa’s workshop is given a high-tech upgrade: a robot version of Santa! And when this Robot Santa malfunctions right before Christmas, it's up to two brave elves to save the day and ensure Coventry’s Christmas is filled with joy. Through humour, adventure, and a touch of festive magic, Aaron’s story captures the spirit of Christmas while adding a Coventry twist for all to enjoy.

Aaron, a lifelong Coventry resident, is committed to bringing pride and inspiration to local children. He has already donated 10,000 copies of his Coventry-themed books to primary schools across the city, helping young readers connect with Coventry’s unique heritage and community spirit.

“The Sleigh Ride is such a magical part of Christmas in Coventry," Aaron said. "I grew up with it, and now being able to create stories that add a new dimension to that experience is really special. With Help! Santa is a Robot, I wanted to add a new layer of excitement and wonder for Coventry’s children, and teaming up with the Transport Museum to make it happen is a real honour.”

The Vintage Sleigh Ride, a tradition since 1956, has brought festive joy to generations of families and remains a cherished seasonal event.

Matt Mullen, venue manager at the Transport Museum, said: “Working with Aaron to bring his Coventry-themed books to life at the Sleigh Ride is a delight. The Sleigh Ride is an essential part of Coventry’s Christmas traditions, and Help! Santa is a Robot will be a memorable gift that enhances the magic for young visitors.”
