24 January 2020
A new exhibition has landed at the Coventry Transport Museum – one that inspires visitors to discover, dream and design.
Taking Flight, a new interactive experience at Coventry Transport Museum, launches on Saturday, January 25.
The world exclusive exhibition follows the museum’s principles to provide immersive science and engineering based experiences for all ages and will teach visitors about the history and mechanics of aviation up to present-day inventions.
Visitors can get hands-on with the touch sensitive wall and discover huge examples of aviation ingenuity on loan from Midland Air Museum. Then, they are invited to dream up and design their own fantastical flying machines which will be brought to life in an immersive digital landscape.
Taking Flight, which is open until Sunday, June 14, has been created by TECH:SQUAD and Firecatcher in partnership with Coventry Transport Museum.
Ruark Jon-Stevens, Marketing and Communications Manager of Culture Coventry, said: “Taking Flight is an exhibition for the whole family, it is a perfect combination of interactive technology, fascinating objects and imaginative fun.
“Visitors of all ages will be able to learn about the history of flight – beginning with dinosaurs and moving right up to present day, before looking ahead to the future.
“You can design your own flying machines and see them glide, soar, and propeller within an enormous projection space.
“No previous flying experience needed, so get ready to wing it.”
