Inspired by the resourcefulness of children during WWII, this highly interactive session invites young makers to transform recycled scraps into one-of-a-kind toys — just like kids did when materials were scarce and ingenuity ruled the day.
What’s in store:
- Design, build, and take home your own handmade toy - A keepsake crafted by you, powered by creativity and the spirit of “make do and mend.”
- Explore STEM through history as you discover how wartime challenges sparked innovation and play.
- Get crafty with recycled materials and learn how everyday items became treasured toys.
- Discover the stories behind the scraps — and how children turned limitations into joyful creations.
- Come for the history, stay for the fun — and leave with a toy made by you!
