Family Museum Engineers – STEM Play for families with children aged 2-7
Looking for something to do that makes everyone in your group happy despite your different interests and abilities?
Includes free admission to the museum for the day
Designed for age 2 - 7, but all are welcome
Our Family Museum Engineers play sessions are designed to do just that by providing three things – space and time to play, a playfully chosen family challenge linked to transport and solved by your imagination, and a range of hands-on STEM learning nobody will even notice is happening.
Upcoming sessions
Wednesday 4 August – Play is the way (especially on National Play Day). Playful challenges will keep the whole family busy. Other than that, it is ‘just’ Play.
Wednesday 18 August – If I could then I would. Playing with ideas for a future city.
Thursday 2 September – Our Future Moves – family play. Be inspired by our current exhibition and challenge your family to play with all things that move.
What you need:
- At least one very supportive grown-up. We know from experience that all mums, dads, uncles, aunties, older siblings, grandparents, carers are perfectly qualified for this role as no previous engineering experience is needed. (They are very good at handing stuff to you though.)
What you will get:
- Opportunity to be introduced to the world of engineering in a playful way! Each family will have a family tub full of playful goods to explore and make.
- A safe and relaxed space. While we love playing in the galleries, for this workshop we want to be sure you are fully relaxed in your own space, and we will play in our Learning Centre.
- Expertise! Our amazing experts from the Learning Team will encourage you throughout. They are experts in playful engineering. That means they are curious, they persevere, are imaginative, love solving problems and teamwork. They will happily offer their expertise and support you when needed.
