World-class collection in a World-class museum

Coventry Transport Museum Summer of Play

Our Summer of Play is here!

We thoroughly believe there is no such thing as being too old for play! So, we are daring you to embrace your playful side and get involved in our ever-growing Family Programme around Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) the best way you possibly can – by PLAYING.

Inspired by our temporary exhibition Our Future moves, play around with your own big ideas and make bigger STEM creations around the biggest questions: “What would our future look like if we could create our own? What if we could make something that could solve a local or global problem?” Look out for bookable workshops, activities to do in the Our Future Moves exhibition, and free activities to take around the museum.

To get involved, prebook your tickets online for one of our workshops below.

Best of all, when you book a family workshop, you get FREE access to the museum too, with no additional admission fee to pay (and that includes accompanying adults too!)

We also have an indoor-picnic area too, if you choose to bring your own packed lunches and snacks. To extend your experience further, we also have free to loan family activities which are available at the Box Office just ask to access them upon your arrival to the museum.

Take part in fun family workshops! The perfect day out with the kids

Covid-19 Safety Measures

We want you to feel safe and assured that attending our family workshops will enable you to have a fun and engaging experience with your children. Here is what we are doing to ensure this for you:

  • Sessions are bookable in advance only. This way we can guarantee we are within our capacity for the space we are using and provide you with a socially distanced, playful environment.
  • This measure will remain in place throughout June and July, and we will review how the sessions are accessed ready for September 2021 following on from feedback and consultation with families in the city.
  • Visitors will not be permitted to enter the session if they have not booked in advance.
  • Sessions will be set up in a similar format to pre-covid, but with specific measures and restrictions in place, following guidance from the government, using the ‘Indoor Play Areas Operational Guidance’ document.
  • Hand sanitation stations will be available upon entering and exiting from the activities.
  • Hand sanitizer available throughout the session.
  • Masks worn by adults throughout, unless exempt and until government guidelines instruct us not to wear them.
  • A member of Learning Team will be facilitating the session, wearing a clear face visor and will keep a safe distance from you. Above all else they will be smiling, happy and relaxed to keep your children happy and relaxed too.
  • Test & Trace system QR code to be available to ensure visitors are complying. This is paramount in this space as resources will be shared between children.
  • Ventilation of room – doors to remain open
  • A ‘I have used this to make something awesome’ deposit box will be available – this is for parents/carers and staff to deposit smaller items and textiles that have been used and will be sanitized at the end of the session.
  • All resources and high touch points to be thoroughly cleaned at the end of each session.
  • If you have any concerns or questions prior to booking/attending our workshops please contact (Family Learning Officer).
