Culture Coventry invites you to join us at our first Family Friendly Conference.

Discover how to make your museum more diverse and accessible for family audiences
Hear from key note speaker, Dea Birkett, founder and Creative Director for Kids in Museums
Explore case studies from museums across the country
Take part in practical workshops that will give you valuable skills to take forward to your workplace
Network with other museum professionals

Case studies will cover various topics from SEND activities for family audiences, making gallery spaces interactive and running successful Early Years provision. 

Confirmed case studies speakers:

• Harriet Curnow and Lucy Wright – Programme Manager and Assistant Programme Manager for V&A Museum
• Gaby Lees - Assistant Curator of Arts Learning for York Art Gallery, winners of the 2016 Kids in Museums Family Friendly Award.
• Sarah Hayball - Community Partnerships Programmer for Coventry Transport Museum
• Lucy Turner - Early Years Coordinator for the Whitworth Art Gallery

Workshops to be confirmed in October with delegates being updated via email.

Culture Coventry is an award winning organisation (including 2010 Kids in Museums award winners, and 2017 Kids in Museums shortlisted nominees), and comprises of: Coventry Transport Museum, The Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, The Lunt Roman Fort and The Old Grammar School (a 12th century building).

This conference is hosted by Coventry Transport Museum, home to the world’s largest collection of British road transport, including the fastest car in the world. After a stunning £9.5 makeover, packed with new displays, interactive features, and thousands of exciting exhibits; Coventry Transport Museum is regarded as one of the leading visitor attractions in the West Midlands, welcoming nearly half a million visitors a year. 

Lunch and refreshments are provided throughout the day.

Cost: £30* per person.

* Please note that the price of these tickets has been supplemented by The Heritage Lottery Fund and The Arts Council.

If you are a museum professional and/or family activity practitioner and would like to deliver a workshop at our Family Friendly Conference, please complete the workshop proposal form and submit to lisa.ford@culturecoventry.com by 10.00am on Friday 29 September. Successful candidates will be contacted during the first week of October.

Please note that workshops should be no longer than 30 minutes, and will be aimed at an audience of around 10 people, to facilitate quality conversations with those participating.

We regret that we cannot offer payment or travel bursaries for workshop presenters. However, you will be given full access to the conference free of charge, with lunch and refreshments provided throughout the day.
